"Luck"
In my experience,
people who work the hardest are the often the poorest.
Poverty itself is hard work.
Many who work hard all their lives wind up broke
just by luck,
or the lack of it.
There are a lot of talented people
who never get a break...
who never get close enough to a break to blow it.
They often feel guilty for not making it big,
because we're trained to believe failure is our fault.
That's the medicine they feed us as kids,
and it has a lot of harmful side effects.
A person is doing okay
if he or she has these...
Health.
A little money left over after the monthly bills
and the purchase of bare necessities.
Enough money for good food
new shoes when needed,
and dental work.
Health insurance.
A family,
or someone to care about them.
Someone to turn to.
Hope.
A home.
A headstart in life,
like an inheritance,
or someone who paid for their education,
or a family business,
or a mentor.
Talent and a little luck.
Some toys or luxuries.
They may say that they've worked hard
and are totally self-made successes,
but usually they've had some help, or luck.
Being in the right place at the right time is important.
You must be present to win.
If these folks complain,
ignore them.
They're spoiled.
